Susan got her start running a small painting business on Nantucket Island in the early 1980's. She was also a showing artist and part of a vital arts and crafts community on the island. Susan moved to New York City in 1986, attending the New York Studio School and finishing her studies at Hunter College with a Masters in Fine Art.
During this period, she apprenticed with a top decorative artist. Leveraging the skills she mastered, Susan formed her own decorative painting company in 1988. She has been doing work for private clients and top designers in the New York area ever since.
Susan has worked on both large and small scale projects, and has worn many hats in the process. Susan's real strength however is her ability to facilitate the vision that her client is after. She has developed expertise in areas such as color consultation and has an extensive sample library culled from years of specific color solutions.
In addition to her decorative painting work Susan maintains a fine art painting studio in Beacon, NY and has shown her work in the Hudson Valley and New York City. You can view examples of her work at susanenglish.us and vanbruntgallery.com.
