John moved to New York from South Florida in 1986 to finish his education. He met Susan at the New York Studio School and also completed his Master's degree in Fine Arts at Hunter College. The demand for Susan's services allowed John to join her and form the partnership in 1988.
His role in the business has been to support Susan's talents, also bringing along his own skills as well. In 2003, John painted a 40-foot mural of a lily pond commisioned by the Steven's Institute in Hoboken, NJ. He is an expert at "ageing" painted surfaces and is one of the best finishing artists in the business.
John believes that it is important to "draw out the client's vision". Whether it is working out the nuances of color with a decorator, or trying to recreate something that a client has experienced - a period room from a film, a memory from a visit to Italy - he has been able to help his clients get what they are looking for.
